Weixel, 11/2 CQ:House Passes Repeal Of Medicare Advisory BoardThe Senate has no clear plans to take up a similar bill in the near future, and the bill may not <a href=Link cup</a> win enough Democratic support to pass that chamber. The board, commonly referred to by its acronym, IPAB, was cr <a href=Link cup</a> eated under the 2010 health law PL 111-148, PL 111-152 , to identify ways to decrease federal spending on Medicare without affecting coverage or quality. An analysis recently conducted by the Tax Policy Center found that the tax proposals of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama Ill. would reduce federal revenue by almost $900 billion during his first term. That analysis excludes some expensive proposals, including promises to close the gap in prescription drug coverage for Medicare recipients estimated to cost about $400 billion over 10 years and to introduce government-funded health insurance for the uninsured which the campaign estimates would cost as much as $65 billion a year , among others, accordin <a href=Link force 1</a> g to the Post.
